Phase 1: Engineering Model
Sometimes called 1A, the first part will have students build and test an engineering model. The engineering model does not get launched on the balloon but will help you test sensors and work through any difficulties connecting to the Data Dashboard.
There are enough xChips in a standard ThinSat kit to make 10 Engineering Models.

Phase 1: Balloon Launch
Sometimes called 1B, this phase will have students collecting real science data with the ThinSat Kits using a low altitude balloon. They will build a WeatherSat and a Ground Station that can collect all of the data the engineering model could and more!
